The Inspiration Behind My Work
Pink Mug- This piece was inspired by my love for simple handmade pottery and experimenting with glaze combinations. I threw the mug on the wheel, trimmed it once it was leather hard, and layered glazes to create a soft textured finish.
Spiral Spoon Rest- I was inspired to add movement and texture by carving a spiral pattern into the surface. After throwing, I added the design with a finish of pink.
Heart Cup- I wanted this cup to feel organic and natural which is why I chose to stay with neutral tones. I added a layer of wax so the glaze would resist that part of the cup.
Heart Tumblr- This piece was inspired by the idea that functional pottery can still feel personal and playful. I threw the cup the cup on the wheel and added wax onto the cup so the glaze wouldn’t stick to that part of the cup. This is used for a coffee to go cup.
Spiral Spoon Rest- I added the design with a spiral in the middle to create ridges and a look of movement. I made this one a purple with blue hues.
Amore Straw Cup- I wanted this cup to feel like an elevated but sleek classy cup. It was a standard form but created into something unique.
